This is a terrible port, alright. But it's terrible on one way only: The controls. If you have a game pad, you're ready to go. If you Google how to config your controller, there is absolutely no problems. Also, always play on 4:3 resolutions, and if your screen is too big, use windowed mode. Well then, with this in mind, the game is the same as the PS2 version. So yeah, it's epic, one of the best hack'n'slash games ever made. Good story, awesome cut scenes, the game is hard as hell and has the best bosses I've ever seen in a game, bar Dark Souls. It's not a mindless button mash game, it actually requires skill, focus and reflexes, you have to learn how to play it to be good at it. It deserves a 10/10 but even if the problems can be fixed, they're still there, so its not perfect.
If you don't mind spending a little extra money, you can buy a subscription to
Pinnacle Game Profiler (I have no affiliation with them, just a happy customer), these guys create controller configs for games which don't normally come with the settings in game to change. I highly recommend their service as it makes games like this even more enjoyable.
